In order for Delaware County to be fully prepared for a successful future, it is vital that our next generation workforce has resources and opportunities to explore the various career pathways that our county has to offer.
In an effort to help students understand the skills and credentials they will need to acquire to achieve their professional and personal goals, the Foundation of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce offers a variety of career awareness programs. In partnership with the Delaware County Workforce Development Board, we are excited to launch the first ever Virtual Career Awareness for local high school students.
Why should schools incorporate this into their current curriculum?
The team that developed the Virtual High School Career Awareness Fair worked with local educators, business leaders, workforce development specialist, government officials, and parents to design this unique experience specifically for Delaware County's future workforce.
Instead of offering an in-person fair at the Delaware County Community College this year, we have developed a virtual experience that can be accessed at any time. The digital platform houses a comprehensive library of resources including:
Industry descriptions and insights.
Videos of local professionals describing their career journey and advice to student would like to be successful in their field.
Activities that help students identify a multitude of careers that might align with their individual interests and skills familiarize themselves with the application process.
Designed to support and track student career readiness, schools can use this platform as a tool to compliment their current curriculum. The simple-design is broken into sections that can be viewed independently or viewed in a more chronological method making it adaptable to any educational providers preference.
