By: Ann Logan, Director of Executive Development at Edward JonesRecently I came to an inflection point in my career. Opportunities and new roles were revealed that led me to deep reflection on the role that being a formal leader has on my identity. I began to question. “How would it feel to not have formal leadership responsibilities?” While I envisioned some pluses (maybe aligned to year end processes), ultimately it led me to a powerful conclusion: Leading others is a passion and I wasn’t willing to give it up. The question is WHY? Leadership is hard. In my almost 20 years of leading others, I have had some wins, losses and conversations I’d like to take back to do over. But to me the hard doesn’t come close to the joys and celebrations in seeing others grow, reach their potential and be better colleagues, leaders and people.

By Trish McFarland, President of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce On Tuesday, February 6th Governor Josh Shapiro proposed his second budget plan. The Governor highlighted education funding, increasing minimum wage, higher education reform, legalization of recreational use of marijuana, and economic development, amongst other items, in his $48billion proposal. “Ohio has one-and-a-half million fewer people than Pennsylvania, yet they’ve invested over seven times more in economic development than we have. And you know what, their investment is paying off. And I’m sick and tired of losing to friggin’ Ohio! We need to catch up,” stated Governor Shapiro. Shapiro continued, “This year, we have a real chance to build safer communities, become more competitive economically, and invest in our students and their success – and this budget lays out a comprehensive and aggressive focus on doing just that without raising taxes and maintaining a surplus of $11 billion at the end of June 2025,” said Governor Josh Shapiro. “Since my first day in office, I’ve been focused on getting stuff done – and this budget will continue to create opportunity for every Pennsylvanian with historic investments in economic development, education, healthier and safer communities, and much more. I look forward to working with the General Assembly to continue to get stuff done for the good people of Pennsylvania, solve the most pressing problems we face, and meet this moment responsibly and with bipartisan compromise.” Local Propane Fuels Winter Fun | By Joe McGinn, Vice President, Public and Government Affairs, Energy Transfer Throughout the winter season, many of us are fortunate enough to relax by the fireplace, travel to visit family and friends, cook and entertain, hit the slopes and take part in other cold-weather fun. Did you know natural gas liquids make all of these activities possible, including propane? Energy Transfer is proud to supply much of the region’s propane from right here in Delaware County at our Marcus Hook Terminal. Approximately 5% of homes in the United States rely on propane for heat, not to mention the many businesses and farms that use propane as their primary heating source. Propane has many advantages, such as being portable, clean-burning and affordable. Plus, propane can be used for fireplaces, as its high efficiency offers more heat than a wood-burning fire, without the hassle of collecting or buying firewood. |
