Two days before the June 30th deadline, the Pennsylvania Legislature finalized a $33.997 billion budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Governor Tom Wolf signed the budget the same day even though the spend number is less than his original $34.1 billion budget proposal, but an increase from last years’ budget (1.8% over what was spent and 4.4% more than what was passed).
Due in part to better than expected revenues, the budget does not include any broad based tax increases or significant cuts to Human Services programs. The budget also saw just under $300million deposited into the state’s Rainy Day Fund.
