As has been widely reported, Josh Shapiro the Democrat candidate for Governor and current Attorney General has a lead over Republican State Senator Doug Mastriano. The race to replace retiring US Senator Pat Toomey has heated up with Republican candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz and Democrat John Fetterman, the current Lt. Governor is a statistical dead heat.
Due to the recent Census, Pennsylvania lost a US House seat down to 17 from 18th. One member, Democrat Mike Doyle is retiring and there are several potential competitive races including in the 7th Congressional District in Lehigh Valley and 8th Congressional District in Northwest PA. In addition, half of the PA Senate (25 seats) are up for re-election. Currently there are 21 Democrats, 28 Republicans and 1 Independent. 6 of these seats are open due to retirements or open primaries, and there are several incumbents facing tough elections including. The full 203 seats in the PA House are up for re-election. Currently there are 90 Democrats and 113 Republicans. 46 seats are “open” due to retirements or lost primaries.
