HERO BOWL 2019

The Hero Bowl is a long lasting tradition in Delaware County where select senior football players participate in a fundraising game for scholarships for the children of fallen emergency service men and women. Hosted at Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield these senior will have the honor to play for such a worthy cause. 

Below is the letter sent out by Robert Lythgoe, the Chairperson of the Hero Scholarship Fund of Delaware County, Inc. 

On Thursday, May 30th, 2019, the 43rd Annual Delaware County Hero Bowl will take place at Cardinal O’Hara High School, 1701 South Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064. The Hero Bowl is comprised of ninety (90) All-Star football players selected by the Delaware County Football Coaches Association from the senior classes of the High Schools in Delaware County, PA. Football coaches from these High Schools, who volunteer their time and effort, coach the players. The Hero Bowl is the major source of funding for the Delaware County Hero Scholarship. The Hero Scholarship Fund of Delaware County, Inc. was founded in 1977 to provide educational scholarships for the children of police officers, firefighters, and EMS workers who died in the line of duty. This is in recognition of courageous community service and to provide a program of assistance for a family that has suffered serious loss. The Hero Bowl has raised over $750,000 in funds to support the Hero Scholarship. Thirty-five (35) children of these brave individuals have received scholarship benefits from this worthy cause.
