PRESS RELEASE:DELAWARE COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HOST VIRTUAL VETERANS EVENT

​SPRINGFIELD, PA – The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s Veterans and Business Committee will hold a virtual event on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 1:00 p.m. Veterans and business community members looking to hire or support professionals who have served in the military are invited to learn how to incorporate leadership lessons from the battlefield into their professional lives. During the one-hour event, a panel of veteran leaders will take part in a discussion about their experiences in the military and the way they leveraged their skills to be successful in the workplace.  

The leadership event, which is presented by Villanova University’s College of Professional Studies and Boeing, will focus on:
  • Leadership concepts they learned in the military and how they apply them in business
  • Stories of leadership success they’ve had in the service and their careers
  • Advice for transitioning veterans
  • Advice for local employers looking to hire or support veterans in the workplace
 
“Our Panel provides a unique collection of military and private sector experience and success.” said James Birkhead, Chair of Delaware County Chamber of Commerce's Veterans Committee; USMC. “We’re excited to welcome the greater Delaware County business community to explore leadership as seen through the eyes of local veteran leaders.”
 
Birkhead, who is one of the featured panelists, will be joined by:
  • Ken DeTreux, Colonel, US Marine Corps (Retired); Adjunct Faculty Villanova University
  • Howard Gartland, Founder Mesa Technical; US Army Reserve Colonel (Retired)
  • Brian Pultro, Pultro Financial Management; Lieutenant Commander, currently serving in the US Navy Reserves

  • To strengthen the Delaware County veteran network and provide an outlet that fosters camaraderie, shared experience and mentorship
  • To connect our veterans with employers who want to engage this community, and unite those who who’ve served with those who support
  • To celebrate our veterans’ contributions to the local economy, and share the positive effect they have on the business community
