Q&A: Michele Garrity, External Affairs Manager at PECO and a current member of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors.
For the last 17 years, Michele Garrity has dedicated her career to PECO, an electric and natural gas utility subsidiary of Exelon Corporation the nation’s largest competitive energy provider. Currently, Garrity serves as an External Affairs Manager at the company that is largest electric and natural gas utility in Pennsylvania, serving approximately 1.6 million electric customers and more than 511,000 natural gas customers in southeastern Pennsylvania. In this role, Garrity build meaningful relationships and works closely with various community stakeholders, the municipalities in Delaware County and Lower Merion, as well as the elected officials and assists in coordinating all PECO infrastructure projects with the municipalities as well as the communities. Prior to coming to PECO, Garrity worked in sales at The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Philadelphia.

Garrity currently serves on the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and previously served on The Wardrobe’s Board of Directors.
Garrity holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University. Garrity currently resides in Lafayette Hill with her husband and mini golden doodle, Emmy.

Be assertive but patient!
In honor of March being International Women's Month, can you identify a woman in history that has inspired you and explain why?
During the pandemic, I purchased a Peloton Bike. Robin Arzon, Vice President of Fitness Programming and Head Instructor at Peloton, has a very inspiring story that I am enjoying learning. Plus her workouts are amazing😊
Can you explain any obstacles you have faced as a woman in the workplace and how you got past them?
I am fortunate to work for a company who values diversity and promotes the advancement of women.
Can you share any tips you have for woman who are trying to make secure a board of directors position?
I would suggest to anyone who is trying to secure a seat on the board to be open to meeting other board members and open to learning about the needs and wants of the residents, business community, and elected officials in Delaware County.
